Taaffes is the city HQ for Connemara heads and Aran Islanders who drink soup here in the afternoons and porter in the evenings while talking irish to each other. The locals come and go about their business oblivious to the spontaneous Trad music sessions that the tourists come in to see. It is a nice place to while away a few hours with friends in the early evening but it can fill up later on and get quiet crowded. So much so that those sitting near the front door may quicker nipping across the street to McDonald's to use the loo rather than making their way through crowds to get to the toilets at the back of the pub! Taaffes is always worth a visit. The_Inspector - 30 Jan 2009 22:28 |
