I have loved The Leather Bottle for many years. It's quaint friendly charm, and cosy atmosphere has always made it a winner. Alas, no more. The new owner has destroyed the village pub.The heart has been ripped from it, and replaced with a sterile grey Witherspoons type pub. Only one bar, no fireplace, no sofas, now great big barrels with a lump of cheap mdf thrown on top as tables. I've tried to fall in love with it, but it's ruined. What a shame. The young owner thought he knew best, but he was sorely mistaken. He won't last very long. lucylastic - 26 May 2016 17:22 |
Real ales on the weekend included Adnams Broadside..London Porter at 7%...a beer from Fat Cat brewery at 3.5% and Adnams ordinary bitter..all top quality. I stick to Broadside at 260p which is good value. Staff are very helpful and dogs are welcomed overall a great local pub in the village. hogshead - 3 Mar 2009 09:37 |
popped in last saturday as drive past this pub on a regualar basis but never got chance to pop in , so a few of us from work made a pilgrimage there , we all had different drinks and were quite surprised at the quality , think i said thats the best drop of guiness ive had outside of ireland , someone else had a real ale which kept getting polished off so couldnt have been that bad , and the other beer drinker had lager and he had no complaints . was expecting it to be a locals pub where outsiders got stared at but we were made to feel very welcome , we didnt try the food only the drinks and they were a high standard , i cannot fault this pub on the service or drinks, lovely little pub will return on next day off romfordir - 28 Feb 2009 12:54 |
Thanks to Michell and Derek for making myself and dog so welcome over the Summer months and the locals are most welcoming too. A great real ale pub with tradional stone flagstones and quality real ales. hogshead - 26 Aug 2008 14:36 |
I popped in to the Leather Bottle for the first time in over ten years at the weekend, and what a pleasant surprise! The place was just as I remembered it - right down to the stone flags. Both beers we tried were in superb condition. Next time I intend to stay for Sunday lunch - which looked very reasonable Stoff - 18 Aug 2008 14:26 |
