| As a Yorkshireman in Hereford for the first time I wasn't disappointed with the much vaunted Barrel or Lichfield Vaults- and I was optimistic when I saw the heritage sign outside the Grapes describing it as a historic inn. What a disappointment inside. Everything of antiquity had evidently been ripped out in the refurb and there were adults talking at the bar with babies in their arms, whilst the bar staff concentrated on serving meals rather than beer. When I was finally served I was overcharged double- price. Okay it was Easter Monday afternoon when the pub could cash-in on families eating- but lets get the basics right, and take down that heritage sign, it surely infringes the trade description act!
