This is a backstreet, Jamaican-owned pub in a God-forsaken area. There are some modern developments nearby. So it's a miracle it hasn't been knocked down. It appears to be hanging on by a thread. There was one customer in, when I arrived. But he soon jumped in a taxi. No real ale is available. Keg options were Carling, Carling Extra Cold, Stella Artois, Strongbow, M & B Mild, Guinness, Coors Light & Worthingtons. The bottles of Dragon Stout very nearly tempted me. Not recommended and I doubt it will be open for long. blue_scrumpy - 22 Aug 2016 19:35 |
Popped in yesterday hoping for a few local ales - London Pride only! Walked straight out. cheshirecat - 26 Jun 2010 09:55 |
Although unpromising from the outside, this proved to be a classic example of a back street Black Country boozer. We visited on a match day afternoon, and, although it was full of Baggies fans, the atmosphere was OK for my 15yr old daughter and 4 yr old son. A small, clean and well decorated pub with kids allowed in the 'side bar', my pint of Mauldon's Suffolk pride was not only excellent, but an unusual find for the area. The pub does a Balti menu to rival many restaurants, and though they weren't serving food when we went, the locals assured us they were among the best around. All in all, one worth a revisit.
