I popped in here to watch the England v Wales game. The place was rammed with bright young things drinking bottled lager, eating pizza (why pizza?) and pretending to be football fans. I sat at an empty table only to be told that I was in 'someone's seat'. It is not a great place to watch football, having a large screen where it is difficult to make out the action and a smaller screen. I had a pint of Wansbeck bitter - the only real ale on - which was pleasant if a little pricey. The atmosphere is probably more pleasant when football is not on, although by all accounts it is then full of dogs and kids. HornchurchJohn - 17 Jun 2016 13:15 |
Nice modern bar, playing Reel around the Fountain when I went in at 7pm on a Tuesday - smashing. No ale but posh lagers and good looking 'proper' pizzas. Charming and genuine staff, well behaved dogs and children welcome this is just one of those good modern bars that a lot of drinkers (a bit like me!) are sniffy about, but with my wife and child and dog it would be 9/10, on my own 7/10. dry_riser_inlet - 12 Apr 2011 19:11 |
A nice enough, harmless place to drink, and great place to grab food and a pint. Pizza is fantastic (takeway as well for lazy times), Guiness is good. ......I avoid at weekends though as busy and loud music dont really fit. becomes non-local. Better pubs in the area for long sessions, lazy weekend drinking, or an all night stay. PissedMonkey - 10 Jun 2009 13:08 |
Is this a kinder garden? Far too many kids and seeing the ladies toilet turned into a baby changing room was a real turn off... sharon74 - 29 Apr 2008 15:02 |
This pub is now called the Lauriston, it still has pizza, but has made itself a little more trendy and expensive. Nice place to hang out with a free jukebox, but lots of children around. ewebber - 16 Aug 2006 18:35 |
