user reviews of the Roos Arms, Roos

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

My last review of this village pub was in 2004, when I was impressed with the food and real ale available. On my recent visit in June I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pub has been taken over by Ken Wagstaffe and his other half who have refurbished the bar and reduced prices for food! Ken is a Hull City hero from what was until very recently the most successful Hull City side to date. He is now an experienced, affable landlord witha quirky sense of humour, who doesn't mind talking to old stagers like me about past glories. I imagine when the word gets out a few more fans may be beating a path to his door. (While we were there a couple turned up who remembered Ken from his Mansfield days - even before Hull City). I'll be back when next in England - just make sure the Abbott ale is on tap - and maybe another real ale wouldn't go amiss?

Great old village local , very freidnly landlord and staff. Hard working staff too. Food is first class, friendly locals give you a chance to get a game on the pool table. good music here too, not too loud, not too quiet. Wish they had rooms and we would stop the night.

Very traditional country pub in a village close to the coast. Several different rooms which fortunately allow you to ignore the loudest pool players I've ever heard. Deuchars on draft!! As well as a decent pint of Tetleys. They also serve lager apparently. Excellent reasonably priced food (3 course Sunday lunch for 6.50!).
