Situated opposite the Beeston tram and bus terminus, this is a multi-roomed pub with a good selection of ales and ciders. Totally Brewed Stargazer is the regular beer. Guests were Ringwood Razor Back, Dancing Duck Back Sack and Quack, Magpie Cherry Raven, Castle Rock Elsie Mo, Welbeck Abbey Red Feathers, Burton Bridge Golden Delicious, Whim Flower Power & Theakston XB. Ciders were Lilley's Mango, Thatcher's Stan's Big Apple & Cheddar Valley & Blue Barrels Smokin' Barrels. Pizzas looked very nice and the interior is very tidy, with a number of different drinking areas to suit tastes. Another good Beeston pub. blue_scrumpy - 8 Apr 2019 18:02 |
A traditional local that manages to make ever such a slight nod to hipsterdom by laying on a great range of local real ales, primarily of the light and hoppy variety - so Castle Rock are represented as well as various Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire breweries. Another noteworthy element is the presence of bread and dripping on the menu - a good half century after anyone has eaten it. I was tempted but opted for a burger which was bog standard but tasty. Belting alehouse, well run. Very clean. Great staff. Whats not to like ? Roy_evans - 9 May 2016 10:39 |
Used to frequent this pub in the late 80's when it appeared in an episode of Auf Wiedersehen (if you watch carefully you can see the etched glass Star Inn windows) and sold Shippos. Now serves real ales and has been renovated whilst retaining the old pub layout. On a par with The Vic and The Crown. To those responsible - Top Marks! Muzzy - 29 Apr 2016 13:39 |
Another relaunch and this time it has really hit the mark. The owner of the national pub of the year finalist, the Horse and Groom, has brought innovation and high quality to the Star. The selection of ales is fantastic, with something for everyone. Great garden out back and several interesting seating areas inside, including lots of books to read if you pop in for a couple on your own. twohalves - 26 Apr 2014 09:40 |
