Everything about this pub is a reason not to go there. The minute you walk through the door you are literally falling over tables and chairs. It is so cramped it looks like a scrap yard. The beer is pretty terrible despite the signs outside boasting all the usual comments. It's also on a rather obscure back street which few people would find. The bar staff do little to cheer you when you come in and they all gave the impression that customers were a disruption to their day. You might think it handy to nip into if you get caught short and need the loo but the toilets are pretty filthy. I didn't eat here but I saw several people had ordered food and it looked very 'plastic' and unappetizing on the plate. My guess would be that it is microwaved as it all looked to be very uniform portions. the menu was also pretty uninspiring. My over-riding comment would be to give this place a very wide berth indeed. TartanWanderer - 20 Dec 2011 04:50 |
Can't speak for the beer as I am always driving when I visit. However the food is excellent value, roast pork plus full works for 7 to full "like mum used to make" standard. Have also had a very tasty and tender steak there in the past. Friendly staff and not too busy, a haven from the retail hell of the adjacent Victoria Place shopping centre and a good alternative to the "usual suspects" food court there. They have a juke box which is fab! And that's it. Dull and lifeless. Al34 - 19 Nov 2008 20:38 |
Nice little town centre boozer with Harveys and Flowers on tap.Food is definitely in the Pub Grub category and the service could be quicker but it is good and all freshly prepared. The fact that it was full on Saturday lunchtime when the shopping mall food hall is within five minutes walk says a lot to me. Signs advertising Kareoke and Quiz Night suggest this is a popular evening haunt for the locals. Good on it!!! REVERENDBAZ - 16 Mar 2008 10:23 |
Used to be a fantastic pub, but has gone downhill recently. mrse1 - 9 Jan 2008 16:18 |
