This was the best pub to go to on any night or day, everyone kind of new everyone else and it was always a great night had by all, but sadly now that the new manager has arrived the place has died......he has filled the bar with bimbos who dont know the difference between a lager and a bitter and the whole atmosphere has gone......we went to have a gander and wont return like all the other regulrs we now drink elsewhere....the food was once an award winner now its not worth ordering, tasteless and boring just like the pub.......how sad James please come back we all miss you! gigglingcrafty - 17 Jul 2009 13:22 |
It's hard to find things not to like about the Mainwaring. Good selection of real ales (Pedigree and Coach House Farriers plus two others), great food locally sourced and three open fires that are actually alight. No intrusive backgrond music or games machines. James the excellent landlord and Chris ("you know when you've been Gibbo-ed") the bar manager complete the picture. The pub is owned by the Mainwaring family who own Whitmore Hall next door. Almost too good to be true. andyontherazz - 15 Dec 2008 14:20 |
Nice traditional with great food (big servings) that's also in a great location(Whitmore road) that's not too far from Newcastle Town center. Staffslad - 19 Jul 2007 18:56 |
Paul (comment below) is talking about the Sneyd Arms in Keele not the Mainwaring Arms Whitmore (he must be a Sstudent durh!) Both pubs are excellent though with well kept real ales, real fires, good food and pleasant atmospheres. stokie6 - 17 Nov 2004 16:44 |
Mainly a student pub, now bypass is built it looks like its part of Keele Uni. Beers good & food good. Paul - 14 Sep 2004 16:57 |
