Lovely cosy and friendly pub with an agreeable background of amiable chatter. Well served and delicious pints of Beavertown's ever enjoyable Neck Oil poured by attentive and hospitable bar staff for a very reasonable price. Looks like a traditional corner pub from outside and then doubles down on being a timeless mind's eye vision of a relaxed convivial neighborhood pub inside. Might be a bit tranquil for younger drinkers, but for those of us slightly more *ahem* experienced patrons this is ideal. One word of warning, when they say mind the step by the centre door leading down to the bar, pay attention! My fiancee made quite the dramatic entrance stumbling in spectacularly and narrowly avoiding braining herself on the fireplace. That safety note aside, very heartily recommended! Pleasant enough friendly locals pub that actually feels like a pub. Snarling_Mallard - 21 Jan 2018 22:03 |
Agreed with previous posters - very friendly and cosy little pub with good IPA and fish and chips. Have had better IPA but felt very satisfied with a pleasant evening. As with many pubs in Tendring area, little concession to modernisation and all the better for it. mtaylor40 - 23 Mar 2012 21:31 |
Tidy, well run pub. Beer good & food looked appetising. Only had a brief visit, but was made to feel welcome. Wilson_MacDonald - 20 Aug 2011 19:56 |
Visited on a very sunny Monday afternoon and sat in a lovely little sun-trap of a pub garden. Friendly young barman (well, friendly to my wife at least, little scamp) and a pleasant welcoming atmosphere from locals. Wife fell in love with resident cat. Sadly there was only IPA and Abbott (the guest was off) but they were reasonably priced and exceptionally well-kept for this part of the world. Didn't eat but menu was quiet enticing simple fare and others seemed to be enjoying very much. Would go back. Advertising music nights Friday/Saturday. polonius948 - 4 Aug 2011 18:40 |
