Spent a week in Heydon last week and several evenings in the Earle Arms. The beer was fantastic on every visit (Adnams). Good selection of wines too. Food (we ate twice) was good and even appealing to my four yr old! Very cosy pub in a excellent location, roaring fires, very friendly staff. Will definately come back when nest nr Norwich! cj0306 - 21 Jan 2009 18:28 |
Superb. Thats all that needs to be said. GoatWilson - 21 Jun 2007 23:10 |
Heydon is THE quintessential Ye Olde English Village, so much so that Jeeves and Wooster, Riders and God knows what else have all used it as a location. Simply amazing setting - conservation area, untouched by Mondeo Man. Ring ahead of visiting the Earle Arms, as the opening hours are somewhat bizarre. If you are lucky enough to be there when it's open, it's a charming pub. Not heard great things about the food, but there's a few good beers. it's worth the trip just to bimble over the road to sit on a bench on the village green, in the shadow of the church (which guards the gates to Heydon Hall), and soak up the view. Unspoilt local in unspoilt village, off village green. George - 18 Dec 2003 11:28 |
