I have enjoyed many afternoons in The Jolly Sailor since they re-opened in January. friendly, welcoming and very traditionally restored. It actually feels as if its been open for years. The staff are always pleasant and chatty and very well read on the history of the Jolly Sailor, Blue Town and its people, it's well worth a visit to see "the history lady", with very pleasent customers over a decent pint in comfortable surroundings. and the best pub toilets for miles!! anonymous - 10 Jun 2007 07:38 |
NOW OPEN JAN 2007 After some time the Jolly Sailor is now reopened!!! Even though very little marketing has been done, this island based pub has already appeared to have found its people or its people have found it. Whatever the case I found the pub and the people to have a real glow about them. I really enjoyed the blend - old with the new. It works, it has many modern touches but unlike most modern pubs and bars it still had that home from home feeling about it. With great tasting larger and a good range of wines and spirits that are fresh, clean and well priced, this is one pub Id recommend. The trick up this small pubs stairs is a wonderful trendy modern bar. An area for musicians to perform and the place for real close net parties.in my case, chilled Soulful Dance music. The bar staff are very friendly and seem to know plenty of stories about the island, maybe some of which are old wifes tales, fantastic to listen too and perfect for a dark winters night. If you decide to pop down, please say hi from Stevieo stevenhall - 31 Jan 2007 16:34 |
