I see that S Fowler & Co was recently voted the runner up in the Isle of Wight CAMRA pub of the year. But I thought it was a distinctly below average Wetherspoons. The location at the top of a street looking down towards the pier is nice. The interior has at least 2 floors, with a family/dining area upstairs. There were stairs going further. But I didn't venture any higher. The ale choice was disappointing - Sharps Doom Bar, Greene King IPA & Abbot, Adnams Broadside, Wickwar BOB, Goddards Fuggle Dee-Dum & Courage Directors. There were no dark ales and no real cider. It was fairly busy on our Good Friday morning visit though and it had a lively atmosphere. Breakfast was also fine. I think there are several better pubs on the island though. blue_scrumpy - 19 Apr 2017 18:30 |
At last a rewarding visit to this wetherspoons. The beer during their beer fest was on good form and there was a distinct lack of the usual element. Steamer1 - 17 Oct 2016 18:24 |
Conveniently located Wetherspoons, bus stop outside to deliver all the dole queue scroungers / drunks / smelly old men for their 8am pint of Guinness. Good selection of real ales which are well kept, good food, sadly the usual dubious selection of clientele but overall I would be happy to take the family here unlike a couple of other establishments in the locality. manx_888 - 18 Oct 2015 19:33 |
As most comments say, a wetherspoons. Ruddles at £1.99 and well kept. Usual Xmas ales on ie: 5% plus yuck Those that like wetherspoons, worth a visit. Those against it, avoid d.franks - 19 Dec 2013 15:47 |
A typical spoons pub you know what to expect worth a visit though tench1230 - 18 Dec 2012 20:33 |
