A great looking pub. I really enjoyed myself here. I was here so I did not go outside into the beer garden except to have a quick look. There were lots of solid-looking seats with real cushions. Inside reminds me of Santa's grotto. Lots of nick-nacks, paintings, posters and up-lights. It gave the whole place a magickal look. I had a steak pie and veg and it was very good, and pretty reasonably priced. I drank the Hobgoblin Gold, but there was at least one more guest beer available. I'd definitely make a detour to go back to this pub. offramp - 21 Oct 2017 18:46 |

This is not a pub for beer drinkers (meaning real ale). The food when we visited was pricey but excellent, so we definitely got what we paid for. The service was dreadful. I ordered the drinks then my wife ordered the food, we both had the same experience. The tall brunette (female) serving, obviously thought that she was doing everyone a favour by being there. Smile, customer contact, service were not in her vocabulary. The landlord spoiled our experience by thanking us for coming as we left. So there is hope. I rate this 10 for food and 1 for service. 8100bob - 1 Feb 2012 18:39 |
This pub has gone really expensive (drink and food) and appears to be taking advantage of once being a really good pub. The ale was really cold too (same temperature as the lager). Agree also about the bar staff - one evening the 2 girls behind the bar seemed more interesting in texting friends than serving customers (I waited 2 minutes at an empty bar while they both texted friends, or maybe each other). Shame as it used to be a good pub. Food is still good, but expensive. Statto - 18 Sep 2011 20:11 |
