Had a couple of excellent weekday pints in this atmospheric little boozer before. Went there the other night on a Saturday for some nosebag and to report intelligence. Couldn't get in, completely full including the garden. Band just setting up to play, lots of folk with food. I had to go to a former haunt in Broughton to get some dinner. This means it not only does good micro ale, but is popular for food and atmos. I will get back and report further just as soon as possible. In the meantime, looks like a very promising venue. Well worth a punt and in an unspoilt and not overvisited part of the Lakes. veryveryoldgit - 6 Jul 2010 00:35 |
This is, of course, a pub in the Seathwaite in Dunnerdale not the one in Borrowdale and thus is miles from Keswick. On a cold and sunny Saturday afternoon the Dickie Doodle was in fine form (I recall a Tirril beer and one other). The space is a fairly basic but comfortable and theres a pleasant enough beer garden behind. Much chocolate for sale I noticed. drtimthornton - 18 Apr 2010 17:55 |
Reviewer Pete: He's not wrong ye naw. It's a great walkers pub serving usually 4 local real ales, albeit through those unnecessary sparklers. A good pub all round, - beer, food, space, character, service. And a porch to hang your wet gear thrown in! OgrisDad - 28 Nov 2007 18:04 |
