Lovely small country pub with decent (although not cheap) food, and reasonable (but unexciting) beer. Very much a locals pub and they let you know by ignoring you and blocking your way if you try and get to the dining area. Not many houses nearby so assume these people are driving. Parking available on the road. Fortunately the landlord and staff are friendly and welcoming, so if you can excuse the locals it's worth a visit. Dining area is small with only about three tables or so, the pub is also smaller on the inside than it looks. I don't think I'd return, there are other pubs nearby where I'm sure you are not made to feel so unwelcome. MalcLondon - 29 Jan 2014 12:51 |
Small, awkward to wend your way between bar and door, a restricted choice of beer, outside Gents but an absolutely sublime little pub which thankfully has not changed in what, 60 maybe 70 years? At one time the countryside between Wycombe and Henley was heaving with such little gems but sadly few now remain. Try it now while you still can. Campanologist - 3 Jan 2012 23:49 |
Same as reviews below. Great old pub, well kept beers. tpfirt - 5 Jan 2011 21:13 |
Very friendly, cosy unspoiled pub -- a real gem. Good Brakspear's too. charlie_m - 3 Dec 2009 23:33 |
Must be one of the best, friendliest pubs in this part of the world. Landlord is a diamond, food is first class and the Brakspears is extremely well kept. Log fire, intimate atmosphere in a real English pub. Blissful! bezlimar - 26 Jan 2009 20:38 |
