A lovely beamed interior and fairly large once inside. However that was about as good as it got. Very quiet on a Saturday afternoon and no food on offer either. Needs to do better. 5/10 montie49 - 6 Mar 2019 18:41 |
Not too far to walk from the centre of Salisbury and near some other pubs so handy for a pub crawl. Although effectively one large room, it's quite dark inside because of all the wooden beams and panels as befitting for a 17th century pub. My Butcombe Best was perfectly drinkable but nothing special; Hop Back Summer Lightning and Doom Bar were also on sale. Not particularly busy and all a little staid. paul_d102 - 27 Jun 2016 09:54 |
An interesting looking pub, and much better service than the nearby Queen's Arms. That said, a managerial sort of bloke was fussing about, bemoaning the late arrival of a coachload of tourists. His distress was contagious, and made the few other customers feel a bit superfluous. My pint of Doom Bar (3.90, second dearest pint in Salisbury) was satisfactory, but I yearned for a bit more sociability. Queenslander - 23 Sep 2015 22:38 |
Start of a stag pub crawl, pleasant enough, surprisingly quiet, a few thought it a bit pricey. Ale was in good nick though. odbod - 14 Oct 2014 13:45 |
Our choice for a place to eat. Reserved table was lovely and service excellent. The place was full and a man came in muttering "That's Just Great", as all the tables were full. The staff new him. He must come in for his tea every saturday. They plonked him on a table with a couple who were out for a meal. Hope it wasn't intended to be a romantic one! Mappiman - 21 Mar 2014 11:38 |
