Nice pub, pleasant landlord, good part-covered smoking area. I indulged in Thwaite's 'Wainwright' nicely kept. alehippy - 2 Jul 2018 20:23 |
Well worth a visit for the cheese alone. Other food is also good value but why bother? Great selection of ales always well kept, the Timothy Taylor is a highlight of any trip into town. Staff always friendly but 'locals' a bit cliquey. Check out the fake Litchfield (sic) memorabilia on the walls for a laugh. Highly recommended (especially if you like cheese!). villagefamily - 6 Jul 2011 18:07 |
I found this pub to have a lovely warm atmosphere especially the new licensee Mark, he seemed to have a great rapport with his staff and customers and my family and I were made to feel very welcome. We had a late lunch which was very well presented and was absolutely delicious homemade fayre and very reasonably priced. The ale was perfect and the regulars added to the overall ambience. Quaint pub, good location, I will definately be visiting again on a regular basis and will be bringing my friends and family caralina - 25 Apr 2011 15:47 |
It is open again, though apparently with a temporary licensee if the to let sign on the outside is anything to go by. It's still a nice pub, but the staff seemed a little frosty in comparison to the warm welcome that used to be on offer. Ales on offer were nicely kept, though all were from the Marstons group and there were no guests like before. jarofporter - 14 Apr 2011 19:44 |
