Surprisingly well kept Dark Star APA and great music make this place still one of the best seafront bars. addlened - 2 Jul 2015 14:14 |
When I am grey and old (well older and when what remains of my hair gives up the ghost at least), I shall look back on the afternoon I spent in this pub sitting by the open window upstairs in this pub, overlooking a fine late summer afternoon on Brighton beach with a gentle sea breeze cooling me, as I enjoyed a couple of nice cold lagers chatting with my mate and listening to an excellent soundtrack of reggae and ska playing at a nicely understated volume in the background, and remember it as one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had in any pub anywhere at any time. Simply bloody marvellous. Should you not have the good fortune to catch it on such a day, the sea view, lovely dark wood decor and good drinks with pleasant service should mean that you find yourself in a very good pub anyway. Catch it on a good day, and you may achieve pub nirvana! Mr.Monkfish - 26 Sep 2011 19:02 |
Great location, lovely interior. Laid back atmosphere, nice staff. Awful toilets and far too expensive. qualitycounts - 30 Aug 2010 22:54 |
Now serving real ale (Arundel Sussex Gold) and quality cider, the only bar on the beach to do so I think. Plastic glasses aside, a great place to spend a lazy summer's afternoon. steve_on_tour - 4 Jul 2010 18:14 |
Ghastly pub full of wannabies and teachers, not a decent drink to be had there, deafeningly loud music, overcrowded, overpriced. Not the place to go for a drink on a wet July evening beach or no beach workhard - 23 Jul 2009 12:00 |
