Located in a residential area of the town, it is very much a local's pub and was very quiet on my visit. Normally there are 2 real ales on the bar but there had only Adnams Cashmere on as the landlord was on holiday. It has a large lounge with the bar in the middle and a pool table and darts on the left side of the lounge. The lounge on the right included some comfy sofas. It also has a patio area. It doesn't serve food which can be a blessing. boozers_knows - 30 Jan 2017 14:11 |
Clearly a locals pub but there's nothing wrong with that, nice enough pint of Doombar and polite, attentive bar staff. Comfy chair too ... sgstrummer - 3 Aug 2014 22:15 |
Quiet locals' pub which is no doubt very nice for the local people as I doubt they would put up with chavvy behaviour. Beer was Shepherd Neame Spitfire. rainlight - 2 Aug 2009 16:15 |
OK if you've got a Dog - There seems to be more dogs than people and the place smells - Strange Customers though very local regular drinkers only I felt - Best to avoid - The Lucky Rover is miles better and far more popular . . mike40email - 16 Feb 2009 08:12 |
Still a traditional pub. New landlord and landlady. Pub has been redecorated but kept the atmosphere. Its got Sky TV, new music system and the rear garden has had decking fitted and an area for the 'smokers' (with heating to fight off the winter months. Joke is don't open the door and let the draught out. Beer is great, friendly staff and you are made welcome as soon as you enter. Roaring coal fire in the winter months...........its great anonymous - 16 Nov 2007 00:32 |
