| I have a feeling that our party was in Huddersfield for exactly the same reason as the previous reviewer. We also had great difficulty finding this place and we were assisted by a stranger in the street. But what a fabulous find this place is. It's an upstairs bar, with a separate function room on another floor. Being the brewery tap for Mallinson's, their Wappy Nick appears to be the regular ale. But, on this occasion, the guests were from other breweries - Blue Bee Archimedes' Principle, Nightjar Cosmonaut, Beatniks Republic Beach Bum, Pomona Island Session IPA & Blackjack Poker Face. Ciders were Pure North Ginger Tom & Valley Zest, Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon, Udders Orchard Luddite & Tutt's Lane Redstreak. Food is also served. We nearly indulged. | 4th pub of the day, recommended by the manager of the first! Finding it was hardest thing, but if walking along road from station then not far after Wetherspoons you reach market cross and you need to take far left corner by RBS to find market walk where this bar is of course on the first corner down. Up stairs to main bar, then a further bar on top. Very basic layout as obviously had a life previously as commercial premises but not a problem when you’re there for the beer and plenty of seating. Sadly got carried away with the novelty of Mallinsons Wagner’s Gold in honour of the towns manager and did not note the other beers on offer but there were plenty. But this 3.8% local beer did the trick anyway and thanks to the fore mentioned local hero will be able to visit again next year. ESCAMRA - 11 May 2018 20:21 |
