Great Old Town pub. Part of #devizesroadswindon . The best selection of real ales from different breweries in Old Town. Great selection of gins, 4 proper ciders available (& a wide range of fruity additiin ciders). Hop Nosh will be available when things get back to 'normal'. People are travelling from as far afield as Bristol & Cheltenham to visit this little area of Swindon, the Hop is one of the main reasons. SW6 - 30 Jun 2021 11:59 |
The Hop Inn was easily the best pub I found in Swindon's Old Town. I'm not sure when it moved. But, it is now in slightly bigger premises at 8 Devizes Road. The furniture is quite eclectic and there was a mixed crowd, some of whom seemed quite inebriated for a Monday! The ale range was impressive and varied - Ramsbury Hop Inn Ale is the house beer. Others were Ramsbury Mango IPA, Settle Castleberg Pale Ale, Lincoln Green Gin & Beer It, Hop Kettle Old Town Best, New Bristol Grateful Red, Frome Brown Cow & Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout. Ciders were both on the strong side - Friel's & Lilley's Gladiator. That may have explained the condition of some of the punters. I remained sensible (for once) and sampled the Brown Cow, which had plenty of flavour for a brown ale. One of Swindon's best pubs. blue_scrumpy - 14 Aug 2019 21:20 |
Continues to be an excellent little pub. Good ales, well kept. Friendly informative barstaff, good prices, selection of ciders. The addition of serving pizzas is great too. Well worth a visit if you're in Swindon. Only complaint would be, shame it's not bigger so that even more people could enjoy it. SW6 - 12 Jun 2018 08:43 |
Excellent little pub, in Old Town Always a good selection of real ales, standard pricing. Friendly staff, dog friendly. People that work in breweries drink here so it must be good SW6 - 30 Nov 2015 16:30 |
A welcome addition to the sparse micro brewery beers scene in Swindon. It's quite a walk (20 minutes) to the south of the station but well worth it. The micro pub used to be a provisions store and now dispenses an excellent range of micro brewery real ales including on our visit a stout. Steamer1 - 28 Sep 2015 22:11 |
