New "Micropub" that was eagerly anticipated here in Melbourne and so far seems to be doing a good trade. They always have 4 ales and two ciders on, there is no bar so these are dispensed by gravity from the cask. Your presence is noted when you enter and the staff come and ask what you want and bring you your drink. The appeal of this place is the ale, which is varied, good quality and constantly changing. Other drinks are very limited. As you'd expect from a "micro" pub it is very small - just a single room, but it does lack a cosy/pub feel -the decor is a bit stark for my taste. Also, there is seating round the edge of the room so when you are stood up in the middle you do feel a bit surrounded. That said, the staff are great and it's always worth a visit for the ale. dyyony - 3 Apr 2015 23:21 |
