Now bit of a trendy pub aimed at the young and trendy and lots of premium lagers to attract the target audience. Fortunately Harvey's Best, London Pride and Deuchars IPA were available for the Ale drinker jimshoppenus - 6 Jun 2013 10:57 |
Good pub. Could do without the massive screen showing football but there's a nice feel to the place. A younger crowd generally although I'd pitch it at around the 20s/30s. It was busier enough for a good atmosphere inside but not too busy that it was hard to hear yourself or move around. 3 real ales on offer and we chose a lovely pint of Harveys. In summary nice and lively, would definitely go there again. Dylarolla - 17 Feb 2012 17:01 |
Firstly yes it was the Magpie and Stump. I always liked the layout of this pub with the curved bar and cosy atmosphere. Unfortunately very dominated by the 20something crowd nowadays. mike25 - 20 May 2011 14:29 |
Was in yesterday late afternoon (Bank Holiday Monday) and it was just horrid - two barmaids who really didn't have a clue, the place could do with a clean, they hadn't switched the toilet lights on - I saw a couple of people have to go and ask for them to do it - at 4pm! I mean I wouldn't have liked to seen the state of floor. Desperately wants to be in Hoxton - such a shame as I remember it ten years ago as somewhere you actually wanted to have a drink. There are plenty of other pubs in area ... avoid. celt7 - 26 Apr 2011 16:09 |
Went here yesterday and aside from some nice decor, it's awful. Really poor service - the bar staff have no idea who should be served first - each round took about twenty minutes to get in... I really wish that was an exaggeration! There are so many friendlier, cheaper and better pubs on Church St. Avoid. stokeyboy12 - 22 Apr 2011 15:41 |
