One of the brighter interior 'Spoons. Downstairs had quite a few of those high tables and stools - not for me really. Another large area was taken up by the single mothers club, who allow their little ones to run around - again, not for me. Decided to try upstairs which was much quieter (mainly because there is no bar) and had some of the separated table options. On the long bar downstairs were about ten handpumps dispensing the usual four or five regular 'Spoon beers. Two of the guests had run out, another was coming soon, which left Adnams Wild Hop and Ringwoods Red Boar. Usual standard of food (damn!). fugglehops - 22 Nov 2016 22:12 |
Visited after a rugby away day! Not a bad Wetherspoons, very clean with several hand pumps on, a little too much "Spring / Hoppy" beer for my taste but Exmoor Beast came to my rescue. Having seen the reviews of some of the other pubs in the town and indeed having visited The Black Lion, definitely head to the Wetherspoons! Ade.The.Raider - 6 Mar 2015 13:33 |
Swish new Wetherspoons with plenty of real ale at competitive prices. My pint of Everards Triple Gold was excellent. Very busy on Saturday night with a mixed crowd. Don't stand at the end of the bar nearest the entrance - you might be ignored. Like all other Stortford town centre pubs it has black-shirted bouncers. Number11 - 26 Oct 2014 20:05 |
First visit, on a Saturday night. Twelve real ale pumps, with 9 in action. Staff attentive and friendly, beer kept very well, as I would expect from a Wetherspoons. Shame I forgot to bring my CAMRA vouchers :( Food is typical chain pub grub - from menu not from trying it. Beers include Red Squirrel, Doom Bar, Abbot, Ruddles, and the one we went for is lovely citrus hoppy beer, Saffron Citurian 3.8%. Maisie - 20 Sep 2014 19:13 |
