| With time to spare before our ferry back to the mainland, I decided to pay this Wetherspoon's branch in Newport a visit. It's set in the town centre in an old church. This makes the large interior a little different from most branches. Bar staff repeated a trait that I had seen in another Isle of Wight pub earlier in the day. Standing at the bar, I've noticed that bar staff often summon you to their till as opposed to coming to the customer. That's not a practice I've seen too often before. The ale range was good for the island - Sharp's Doom Bar, Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best, Yates' Islander, Goddard's Fuggle Dee-Dum, Arundel Winter Knights & Titanic Plum Porter. They also had Broadoak Perry. I had not originally planned to come here. But it ended up being my favourite pub of the day on the island and I found it a big improvement on the Wetherspoon branch in Ryde. blue_scrumpy - 18 Nov 2018 14:21 |

| Have been 5 or 6 times when over on Island. Well-kept beer but only a few live pumps at any one time (at least one local ale) and food is good. Nice atmosphere for a Wetherspoons and a interesting conversion from a church. austin10 - 9 Sep 2015 17:48 |
| Good pub, went on the opening day. 12 beers on good looking pub. The staff were nervous you could tell but the pint was excellent. Tried the 'man in the moon' a Goddards beer made for the pub. Buttons100 - 22 May 2014 08:28 |
