| The Bobbing John is a Wetherspoon's in the centre of Alloa and it was our first stop for breakfast and a quick drink on our way to other more exotic places. The usual Scottish 'spoon's choices of Greene King Abbot, Sharp's Doom Bar & Caledonian Deuchars IPA were on. Guests were Adnams Broadside, Kelburn Cart Blanche & Jaguar & Wooha Blonde. | Despite the newness of the surroundings, the usual sterile JDW experience. There's no sense of drinking in a pub: their establishments are more like hotel receptions than pubs. Nothing wrong with the beer - pint of Doombar was fine - and the food certainly provided value for money if not much else but it took an age to get served. This was no fault of the hard working, amiable barman but, as happens so often with JDW, he was on his own in a busy bar. Kenny260556 - 9 May 2014 23:10 |
