Disappointing and a sign that a good range of beer alone - this time from the estimable Ossett brewery - is not always enough. The interior is cavernous and very much like a chain pub (which this is given that there is a similar joint in nearby Saltaire), the pizza toppings sound ill thought out and an attempt to add character by putting pics of local musicians on the walls give the place the feel of a temple to landfill indie (The Cribs, Kaiser Chiefs). An Ossett Brewery-tied bar that is directly under Leeds train station, with a downstairs area and an upstairs seating part. On the very large bar the ales were- Ossett Big Red, Ossett Silver King, Ossett Yorkshire Blonde, Ossett Excelsior, Ilkley Hanging Stone, Jennings Cocker Hoop, Everands Sunchaser Golden Ale, North Riding Brewery Cascade pale ale. I went for the Excelsior at 3.40 so quite pricey but it was well kept and was a decent pint. It's a very large place in here. When I initially got here it was dead but about half way through my drink a load of office workers came in. It's an interesting enough place to look at and the interior is quite unique with its location. The bar just felt quite soulless in here abd very dimly lit and even the large group of people coming in didn't help this. An okay place and not far from the station so might be worth a look in before your train, I was a bit disappointed though. Wezzielad - 22 Feb 2017 11:45 |
5 Ossett beers and 4 guests. All looked in good condition, the Big Red, 4.0 was great. Live music, covering Amy Winehouse at the moment. Not busy, but not sure why not. Worth the short walk from town. TonyMitch - 19 Oct 2016 20:45 |
Excellent choice of beers in the arches under the railway station on the canal side. The quality of all we had was very good. Steamer1 - 6 Apr 2015 19:13 |
A decent pub under the railway arches overlooking the wharf with outside seating area at the front. A very good selection of cask ales at very reasonable prices for the area. Recommended; well worth a visit. alexw - 19 May 2014 21:36 |
