| Can't get over the positive reviews. was in a few months back and asked about the quiz night and karaoke, non existent, the same with the food. Not as described by this website. Would like to say the experience was good none the less but my guinness glass was dirty, apparent after drinking a fair bit of it, so I didn't make a fuss - I am over critical on this sometimes but it doesn't hurt to give an extra scrub or whatever needs to be done. | Have popped in here a few times recently to watch the football (TV sports seem very thin on the ground in Crouch End) and really enjoyed myself. The beer is reasonably priced and very well kept and the bar staff are absolutely lovely. It's a shame it's not more crowded as they really deserve it. It's nice to buy a pint in N8 and have someone smile at you when they hand it over. Such a little thing but it really does make a difference. lookmother - 8 Nov 2012 17:25 |
| The change this pub has made is more than just it's name. From being one of the worse pub in crouch end, to being a hidden little gem. Nicely set out, with friendly bar staff. This pub is now a first stop in crouch end for me, and should be for you too. mcgreen - 28 Mar 2012 19:25 |
| Wow, what a transformation! I have been a local in this pub for a while now and can honestly say Jenny has turned it around in a way I never thought possible, the staff are warm and friendly, the entertainment is great (some great laughs at karoke). such a nice place to come for a warm and friendly night out, would recommend the Henry Reader above any other pub in crouch end. | The Henry Reader is now a must visit visit if you are in the Crouch End area. It has undergone an amazing change over the past year and is now a very clean, well managed pub run by people who care about the place and their customers. The staff are really attentive and friendly, and it's so nice to strike up a conversation with Jenny, the owner who is great fun. Good selection of beers, all well maintained. Miss it at your peril!
