Enthusiastic young man behind the bar/till. Good selection of beers at fairly good prices. The likes of Kernel and a couple of others are always a rip-off wherever in my opinion, but there are a few interesting specials that are worth the extra dosh. littledrummerboy - 19 Mar 2017 22:59 |
Yes we could sample beer from the cask and buy some bottles. Super place. BR certainly didn't know what they were doing when they let all those goods sheds fall down or were demolished. Steamer1 - 22 Nov 2014 20:17 |
Contrary to the above post, this place does let you drink the beers on the premises until 10:30pm and the last time I went had six beers being served from mini casks. Also, listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2013 as a pub - but it is a shop as well :o) The range of beers and level of service is excellent. Prices were fair and you can get a lot for the price of a pint of Masterbrew (Kernel, Brodie's, Oakham, Thornbridge, Westerham, Magic Rock etc). Points knocked off for only selling pork scratchings and crisps though there is a nice restaurant in the same building. Blagger176 - 12 Sep 2012 21:51 |
This is not a pub but a shop (as its name implies) selling various bottled beers. There are many British ales but a majority of the stock seemed to be imported either from Europe or the USA. As a result, they are not particularly cheap. The shop is right next to Canterbury West station and part of a larger emporium which is more like a permanent farmers' market than anything else.
