Didn't try food but Hooky was in good order. Only other bitter was Flowers Best on keg. Very busy on Sunday lunchtime. paul_d102 - 29 May 2011 22:23 |
Another good Hook Norton pub, and a proper village pub too! Good selection of well prepared food, with a good range of options for vegetarians, too! sloe_jane - 3 Feb 2008 19:20 |
A proper village pub!! Absolutely lovely food as always - I would certainly recommend the fillet steak, a bit pricey but definitely worth it!! Puddings are certainly homemade - try the sticky toffee pud or the fruit pavlova off the scottie dog pudding board. They also have a good selection of vegetarian and coeliac dishes - just make sure you mention it when booking. We will definitly be going again. anonymous - 23 Feb 2007 13:00 |
It's a perfect little country inn, located in the pretty village of Shenington. The food really is first rate, a small but excellent range of dishes chalked up on a blackboard. The claim to make everything themselves except the bread and ice cream! Beer-wise the Hooky was very well kept. The atmosphere is snug and welcoming. Also an excellent base for a brisk country walk to work up the appetite. OldRogue - 29 Jan 2007 13:32 |
...and on the 7th day God created The Bell. A jewell in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside the Bell will offer you good food, splendid Hook Norton ale and even better company. If you're a local or merely passing through you'll be welcome to sit by the fireplace in the bar and have a few pints of Hooky. And if you do so, please bye a round for Teddy, Hainesworth and Coles from me! david_nickless - 5 Jan 2006 12:53 |
