| Although the Walrus Bar is part of the hostel it is in fact open to all and well worth searching out. There's usually a couple of real ales on offer - London Pride and Hogsback TEA last time I visited - at very reasonable prices (£3.50 a pint October 2015). During the day it can be fairly quiet but nonetheless still worth a visit and in the evenings becomes lively with a mix of hostel stayers and locals. Couple of benches outside for us smokers with a retractable awning for when the weather requires it. Youthful friendly staff and daily happy hour deals. No food on offer but you are welcome to bring your own and there are plenty of cheap takeaways on Lower Marsh. johnthechef - 11 Oct 2015 09:53 |

| Sorry for the delayed response but it took me a while to come up an appropriate rating for the Walrus. Starting on a strong note props go to the host for reserving a table and a mention must go out to the amazing wedges. There was an ok selection of beer, but unfortunately no ales for the classier gents amongst us. Still, beer is beer, wherever you go. The interior was fairly industrial, however we thought the jug placed under the urinal added charm. Thrifty, yet very effective! The noise of the train going past overhead also added to the ambiance. The music choice was enough to get most of the young professionals of London queuing, UB40, Whitney Houston and George Michael to name but a few. Overall, the Walrus was a tad disappointing. | Been to The Walrus a few times and each time the staff have been brilliant. They now have Bulmers on tap which is a bonus for cider drinkers but they have a pretty wide choice of other drinks too particularly for a bar of it's size (it's quite a small place but that's part of what makes it work so well in my opinion). The upstairs function room used to host a good comedy night but this has stopped recently. They still have live bands there though and it's well priced for the area.
