| Having memories of this pub through its various incarnations over the years I decided to pay the Chase Gate a visit for Sunday dinner. Awful! The place has now become a kind of licensed McDonalds, with screaming kids and shouting parents taking up practically every table. A typically unimaginative menu which led to bland and boring food. When you ask for a steak to be cooked medium it really shouldn't come back cremated. The beer was OK and the staff were pleasant enough but the atmosphere is completely ruined by the constant howls of bored children followed by the ever present roars of snarling parents who really should know better than to take kids to a pub in the first place.
