Named after Sir Norman Wisdom, whose life-size statue is outside, this is a hotel bar in an upmarket hotel. The drinks prices reflect its status. Has the feel of a lounge bar. But there were plenty in, including a few families. Barmen/waiters are smartly dressed. Okells Bitter & Moorhouses Black Cat were the 2 ales. I zoomed in on the Black Cat after seeing Okells beers far too often. Nice enough place. But I wouldn't fancy a session here. blue_scrumpy - 5 Jan 2015 21:22 |
Called in this hotel bar on Douglas front. Thre is a statue of Norman Wisdom sitting on a bench on loan at the moment, and the foyer top looks like one of his famous caps. Inside is devoted to him with photos and posters from his films on the walls. There are about 3 TV's spread around the large room. Comfy seating. The beer price was a shock though. We had a half of Bushy's Manx Bitter, and it cost 1.80. I queried it as 3.60 a pint seems excessive for a 3.8% beer from down the road. I was told the hotel policy was 3.50 a pint, and 1.80 a half. Reckon that was why the large room was virtually empty! gillhalfpint - 27 Apr 2010 15:25 |
