Not as lauded as other pubs in Bishops Castle but it was our favourite. The locals were the friendliest we encountered in the town, the bar is clean and comfortable and the excellent Bombardier was served up by a swift, cheerful and attentive young barman.

Great to see a pub being used by all of the community, was in for Easter Sunday lunch this is the third year running. They had three beers on Tunnfield Devils Chair this wasn't to my taste , Wadworth Bishops Tipple this was ok & Theakstons Best didn't try this.
The food was very good & well served.

Having already discovered a few good pubs in the town, we weren't expecting much but were pleasantly surprised. Friendly and cosy with a good atmosphere, it seemed to be most popular with decently-dressed 40 year olds. Theakston's Best, Batemans Hooker and Joules Pale Ale were on offer which brought the total of different ales on offer in the town as a whole to well over 15.

This resent visit was very enjoyable, a very nice well kept pint in a nice atmosphere. Late evening it had a very traditional pub feel with an inglenook and lots of beams and a group of elderly gentlemen playing cards and a young group chatting away.

Funny how pubs can change character from year to year and at different hours. Previous visits had not left particularly favourable impressions (one occasion full of diners early evening with no room for drinkers and another a noisy big screen crowd).

A surprisingly popular pub given the competition in a town of good to great pubs. Its not a bad pub but is only average on all fronts, notably the quality/variety of real ale and the quality of food.Pop in for one if on a town crawl but save your energy and money for the others.
