As others seem to have said, I found this place a bit of a mixed bag. I was staying in the village for 3 nights and ate here each time so hopefully picked up a reasonably accurate impression of it.

The food was undoubtedly and consistently good - a definite plus, despite it being arguably no better than you'd expect for the price (fairly high). The location in the harbour is great, and they've done a very good job of renovating the building without losing the character of the place.

The service was friendly and very courteous at all times, although unfortunately very erratic to the point that it considerably detracted from our enjoying some of our visists. On the first night, there was so little time between courses we'd eaten three by a little over an hour after arriving - so not a big thing but we did feel rushed (despite being a not particularly busy Wednesday, so it presumably wasn't because they wanted the table back). On the second night the service was faultless. But the third night was very disappointing indeed, mostly because despite having booked a table for 7.30 on arrival (on time) we were told they'd given our table to someone else. We weren't given our table until almost 8.30 and instead of being offered a small gesture by way of apology (e.g. some free bread or a drink) we were just told some other walkers had turned up as though that were sufficient justification.

So overall I was left feeling a bit disappointed. With a bit more attention to the quality of service this could be very good indeed, but as it is I wouldn't be especially enthusiastic about returning if I was in the area again.

Visited last week on a couple of occasions. Great location overlooking the beach with great fire and wood burner keeping the place cosy. Draught Bass was very good but didn't try the Rev James also on offer. Food is a tad pricey but had one exceptional meal there on my birthday! Service accomplished and friendly, but this was very much 'out of season'!

A bit of a mix really.

Food was pricey but very nice.
Service was very good overall, apart from the fact it took ages to pay, got fed up waiting and took my money to the bar, to be served by the very pleasant smiley barmaid.

3 pumps, but only Bass available on one day and it wasn't that great, went on another day and enjoyed a couple of fine pints of Revd James.

Fantastic view from the window seat.

Really not sure how to mark this one. perhaps a 7 for all the positive points.

The Swan Inn is a 200 year old seaside Inn which probably makes it the oldest of the three pubs in the small village surrounding the coastal cove of Little Haven. Although primarily focussing on food, as it has a ground floor restaurant and a dining room on the first floor, it still manages to retain the charm of a traditional pub and the bar area has plenty of polished oak tables, leather armchairs and a decent stone fireplace. And if you can get it the bay window seat is probably the best place internally for a view over the cove. The bar itself is a decent lump of solid pewter on which there are three hand pumps dispensing Draught Bass, Worthington Cask and Brains SA at the time of our visit. So not the most inspiring choice but good enough and the SA was a decent pint.
