Visit 13:00 Thursday lunch time and there is no one in the pub, but the bar man and the chef stood taking behind the bar. Starting with the positives: the your bar man was very polite and obliging, The food, fish & Chips and a home made fish finger sandwich were very good. The light beer from a Skipton brewery was excellent, even though we had the first two pints out of the pump. Negatives, there was either no extraction in the kitchen or it was not turned on, as the pub was full of a thin blue haze of cooking oil and the smell of cooking fat. The seating has seen better days, but the cost of replacing this may well be prohibitive, however, up to this point our visit had been enjoyable. Then an over indulgent couple who had entered the pub a little earlier with a baby, taking photos of the baby and generally cooing about their little treasure, felt is acceptable to change the baby, in the pub, on the seating. Given the customers were clearly too ignorant to understand that not everyone is as enamored with their baby as they are and would really not wish to witness or smell this process when eating or drinking, the bar staff should have asked them to move to the toilets to change the baby. wynyard - 24 Feb 2012 07:46 |
