Incredibly smart country pub, probably described as "civilised" in certain pub guides. The Mr Chubbs was pretty good, despite a foody crowd who were largely wine drinkers. The gardens are gorgeous. mtaylor40 - 11 Jun 2013 23:50 |
A good welcome at this pub, they dont mind if you dont eat which creates a good atmosphere to drink in if thats all you want to do,had a couple of good nights in there lately hope it stays like this whippet123 - 1 Nov 2010 19:06 |
I visited again this week. Still very much food-oriented, and (as one would expect given its location) very affluent clientele. Decent enough pint of West Berks seasonal beer; there were 3 real ales on offer. Not really my type of place, I might go back if I was passing and happened to be thirsty, also the food might be worth trying (based on other comments) newbury_drinker - 12 May 2010 11:29 |
Had dinner here earlier this week whilst passing through on the canal. The Red House is more of a restaurant than a pub and we had an excellent dinner. Didn't try any Beer but the wine was excellent. Food was of a high-standard but this isn't ordinary pub food so expect to pay for it - we certainly did! fender1961 - 16 Apr 2010 08:43 |
This was closed but seems to be open again. Last time I was there a year or so ago it was very much food-oriented but did have some beer. I will not rate it as I assume it's now under new management. newbury_drinker - 11 Apr 2010 10:18 |
