Have been calling into The Rising Moon on a regular basis since my last review (April 2010 - goodness, how time flies!). The Robinsons Unicorn is always excellent and in great form. We have dined regularly with the food being great and good value too. The 'new' licensees (since 2012) are doing a good job and are very welcoming. There is a nice outside seating and childrens play area, which can be very popular during the summer months. I have been using this pub for over twenty years, so my comments are based on frequent experience and not an isolated one-off visit. As I said in my previous review, heartily recommended! This used to be a regular haunt of mine aged 18-22 and visited on Christmas Eve whilst in the area over the festive period. I was distinctly underwhelmed. Despite the place being relatively quiet, glasses were left uncollected and one large table (right near the door) held the remnants of someone's meal. The plates had been cleared away but little else and a dollop of baked beans took pride of place in the middle. In the two hours we sat at a nearby table, no one bothered to clear the mess. On the bar the Unicorn was OK - not the greatest in the world. A second handpull was broken and a third had a piece of broken pump clip around it. The whole place had a feeling that those working there just didn't care. bods - 10 Jan 2011 09:48 |
The Rising Moon is a great pub, located in a semi-rural location. The pub is traditional in style with roaring log fire in winter and scenic outside seating area for enjoying the sunsets during summer. This pub caters for both drinkers and diners with aplomb, and will appeal to those who like real pubs. Two real ales are available from Robinsons, the regular Unicorn bitter along with the seasonal beer of the moment (currently the well tasty Dragons Fire) I can certify that both are extremely well kept/served. Food is also served all day and very nice it is too (and reasonably priced). I have been enjoying this pub for many years and is always excellent. Heartily recommended.
