The Old Ferry Inn was my first stop of the day in Cornwall. It has the advantage of opening in the morning. The pub is situated next to the car ferry over to Fowey at the bottom of the village and a very steep hill. My car struggled to get back up the 1 in 6 incline! A couple of other people were there when we arrived. They were enjoying coffee and tea. Ales are all from Sharps - Own, Atlantic & Cornish Coaster. No real cider was served. The bar is decorated with lots of nautical pictures and memorabilia. There is a separate dining area. But the pub is quite compact, in all. A lovely pub in a handy and picturesque setting. The only drawback is the lack of ale choice and a real cider. blue_scrumpy - 30 Jan 2017 20:47 |
Right by the Boddinick ferry and at the end of the Hall Walk from Polruan so nicely situated and sitting on the patio in the afternoon and evening sunshine the view was perfect. Excellent pint if Sharp's Cornish Coaster too which at only 3.7% packs loads of flavour. bromsgrovebeerboy - 26 May 2013 20:05 |
Called in last week for a pint and spot of lunch. Staff very friendly, food and beer good, nice roaring fire. Locals were also friendly. Out of season and mid week but open and inviting. the_converted - 20 Dec 2011 22:41 |
Good pub with a nice view of the estuary from the dining room and outside seating. Decent Sharps beers but the local still cider was excellent and shouldn't be missed. Right by the Boddinick ferry and something to look forward to on the walk from Polruan. bromsgrovebeerboy - 26 Oct 2011 19:08 |
Lovely pub with a historic feel, and the most enjoyable pub to spend time in on a tour of Fowey/Polruan/Bodinnick area. My girlfriend and I were the only two people in the pub for a good few hours on a Monday afternoon having walked from Polruan to get there. It's a cosy pub offering Sharps' Own and Cornish Coaster, both of which were in top nick. Lots of paraphernalia on the walls in the bar, and a seperate dining room as well as outside seating. The barmaid mentioned that they were missing a set of darts which I took to mean that this was an option, although no dartboard was evident. This would only add to the appeal. Looking forward to a return trip. shand83 - 12 Apr 2011 16:44 |
