When Matthew Corbett took over from Harry he tried to update Sooty - he retired Ramsbottom the Snake, introduced the insidious Scampi and in an effort to woo the younger generation and, copying Crackerjack to some extent, inflicted Sooty's Disco upon us. However, even he realised how naff Sooty's Disco was and before long he dropped it in favour of the old format. For those of you who lamented the passing of it though you can always come here. It's larger inside than it appears from the outside and to the rear is a lower dining area. The front bar doesn't really have any space for non-locals to occupy. It's what you would call a 'community local' in so much as it feels like having a pint in your local community centre as opposed to a pub. I do have to compliment the beer - the guest ale on was Brewdog's Trashy Blonde and was an excellent pint. Would have had another pint of it but I had to go before the disco really got going. anonymous - 14 Nov 2010 11:33 |
