| I lived in Sheepwash, the next village about 1 mile away for 18 months but never got round to visiting The Torridge so after moving a little further afield but back in the area for the afternoon I decided to put that right. Went in on Saturday lunchtime with Mrs Gaffer for a pint and a sandwich and found it to be a pleasant enough experience. Nice, cosy and welcoming bar area with reasonably friendly welcome. Couple of real ales available tho no guest so I plumped for the ever reliable Doom Bar and a soft drink for Mrs G. Ordered a couple of nice baguettes and enjoyed a relaxing hour or so. | This is a lovely little pub in the middle of the village of Black Torrington. The front bar appeared full of charm but we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy the weather and sit in the nice garden to the rear. We were served good beer with even better manners.
