The Queens has a nice setting next to a stream in the pleasant village of Belbroughton. But the interior is fairly soulless. It's mainly a dining establishment. The ale selection isn't too inspiring either, as it's a Marstons place - Marstons EPA & Ringwood Boon Doggle & Forty Niner. Only 2 other groups of customers were in on a Saturday lunchtime. I thought the price for a half of Forty Niner was reasonable and I'm fairly sure the glass I was given was more of a schooner than a half pint. blue_scrumpy - 18 Jul 2016 17:52 |
Every room is laid out for dining so it is pretty clear that selling food is the main aim here even though there is a small area where you can sit and have a drink. I am sure the food is delicious but it wasn't somewhere that did it for us - it just seemed to be pretending to be something that it isn't but ours was a flying visit so maybe we got it wrong.....The guest Jennings Cockle Warmer at £3.30 was fine to be fair; the regular Boondoggle and Pedigree at £3.40 completed the line-up from the Marston's stable. paul_d102 - 25 Jan 2014 18:45 |
Noticed the old blue cask mark logo on the front when driving through the rat run that is Belbroughton to the m5. Decided to stop on my way home for a pint. Only thing I noticed about the decor was that it had been refiurbed into a complete dining experience with very posh looking table placements. We ate there many years ago but now it seems to have gone up a league. Looking fwd to a revisit to se the scary eye wallpaper. I only had a pint outside in the sunshine and everything was rosy! Visited this last week and what a shock! It has changed hands and the nice country pub interior has been ripped out - including the inglenook fire... The wallpaper was the scary part - covered in faces with staring eyes - its like a Stephen King horror set. It used to be great and having just returned to live in the area I was hoping to make this place a regular vebue. Not now. Tancred - 29 Sep 2010 15:07 |
