Excellent selection of real ale, excellent service by the staff and a very good atmosphere even when it's on a quiet afternoon early in the week. Not far from home so easy to get to. wiggy17 - 3 Mar 2013 22:14 |
Large boozer with great selection of ales in good order - we were on the back end of a stag and had a few snoozers in the boozers towards the end but landlady was sound and sorted them a taxi. Decent place. kernott1 - 24 Jun 2012 18:42 |
Bit different this, eclectic crowd one week its all middle-aged roughish divorcees on the pull (funny these) and bearded beer bores, next week its full of young blades and babes (guess which I prefer). Certainly Fridays and Saturdays are lively, last Thursday was very quiet but beer still great. The upstairs is now something of a comedy club / theatre which attracts biggish names, theres a full padded cell sorry room at the back - now this really IS different. Beers always very good and a good choice. They dont suffer dickheads, which is great as well. Richardhuddleston - 23 Jun 2011 22:40 |
Lovely open plan pub with an excellent choice of ales. Welcoming bar staff and relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to visiting again when I am next in the area. anybody - 29 Sep 2010 18:47 |
Converted old workshop with some nice touches in the decoration including a large mural on one wall. There's one large room and a much smaller room at the back of the pub. 12 handpumps serving Timothy Taylors on three alongside five changing guests yesterday. I had a pint of Kelham Island Captain which wasn't really to my taste but it was well kept. It can get very full in here at weekends but it's a great place to go for a decent pint.
