I went to this pub a couple of weeks ago when they were holding a reggae themed evening. There was little to suggest the reggae theme so I feel it was just a cry to draw in the customers. I started out at the bar, absolutely heaving, felt like there was too many people in the venue for it to be legal, door staff did little to protect potentially underage drinkers from getting in, considering I'm 23 years of age and still get ID'd everywhere else and not getting ID'd here was slightly weird for me, even so, the door staff were around the corner chatting and smoking with drunk customers out on the street. I got to the bar after around a ten minute wait, customers dropping their drinks on the floor all around me, extremely hazardous on a wooden floor, someone could easily slip, but no staff done anything to correct this, not even a sign. Around the bar were the type of fluorescent / permanent marker signs you'd see somewhere tacky, selling Haribo for 10p a packet and test tube shots for £1. I purchased a Corona & a jäger bomb, giving the bar lady a £10 note. She told me I would have to wait for the change as they had none in the till. I waited a further 5 minutes, out of my own respect that they were busy, then having to call the bar ladies attention for my change, she then went over to what I presume is her boss asking for some change, only for her boss to yell out loud "they should be getting the change out their pockets then". Despite the fact I saw other customers handing the staff notes and them getting change, maybe because I haven't been seen in there by them before, or because I'm a younger female, they thought it acceptable? Now, I as a customer was made to feel terrible! Not only this, I consulted with my friend who bought a Koppaberg with a £10 note and only received £4 back. They're very clearly stealing from customers. They seem to think this is acceptable then I guarantee they'll be out of the trade in no time. I myself as a manager in a busy Bath pub & APLH holder, do not believe this business is operating correctly or legally. I honestly got worried the member of staff that served me, her facial piercings would fall into my drink. The staff are RUDE, CLUELESS & DISRESPECTFUL. I then went to try and get the money issue off my mind, by hitting the dance floor, again, the music had little to suggest a reggae themed evening, there were just a bunch of younger 'kids' playing around with a jukebox constantly changing the music to generally Hip-Hop & R&B. Surely a reggae themed evening, a reggae band, or atleast a DJ? I used to love this pub prior to the current owners. But I will never visit again. I have told each one of my friends, and if the lack of friendly, proper service persists. They'll be out of business in no time. Owners like these are why this pub keeps falling through.
