| From the outside this looks the sort of pub best avoided. On an estate, advertising for Sky Sports and cheap meals, flags flying. Inside, though it's a bit different. The front room is obviously pitched at food, with menus on every table and an area reserved for non-dines. The back room is like the bar at a caravan park; pool tables, quiz & fruit machines and televisions. What saves the pub is five handpulls, all working, of which the hook Norton Hooky I tried was a decent pint. I still wouldn't make a detour to use this place, but full credit for making what seems an ordinary pub into something a bit different. djw - 28 Jul 2012 18:43 |
