| A good little place for a warming-up and a pint after being on the beach at Sandy Mouth Bay, but not much more. The ales were all in good condition. A couple of the locals were a bit unfriendly - especially towards an older lady who had left the door open (despite the poor old girl using a walking frame!). | Really odd pub this. It was recommended to us as a good place for food and it was actually very good for that. Beer too was ok without being exceptional. However, the landlord is something else! A dead ringer for Al Murray's Pub Landlord, he was friendly enough in a comically loud kind of way but couldn't seem to decide if he wanted families in the pub or not. Now there are some pubs where you want to maintain an adults only type of atmosphere, of course and I have no problem with that....just make up your mind if that's what you want. It' all a bit odd as they have a huge skittle alley at one end (where anyone with kids was shunted) and overall, I came away with the impression that this is a pub with a bit of an identity crisis.
