| When you get inside this place you find a maze of rooms and different levels, and, usually, lots of people. It can be confusing as it certainly isn't a small pub. | Renowned dining pub whose excellent beers also sees it regularly gaining a place in the GBG. It's not somewhere you'd stumble across, being down a country lane at the edge of the village, by the River Wyre. An old 17th Century farmhouse, it's converted so the inside is smart and contemporary, with large rooms split over 2 levels for dining and a 'mushroom' theme. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, justifying the hype, and the beer isn't bad either- a house beer is brewed, and guests on my visit were Hawkshead Lakeland Gold, Thwaites Best and Theakston's XB.
