Discovered that the UV light is to stop heroin addicts shooting up. Not sure what that says about the bar, but I haven't seen anything like that going on. Just a quick addendum - the beer is on the expensive side... 2.50 euros, which is .50 above the norm. When you add the 50 cent toilet charge, it soon adds up. steve5312 - 5 Dec 2006 16:08 |
I'm not sure what an Irish pub is supposed to look like, but this was a nice enough bar. They show all the matches on 3 TVs (unobtrusively, I should add), and the service for drinks is pretty good. Haven't eaten here yet, so can't comment on that. Fairly mixed crowd of ex-pats and locals. Lots of seating. Beer is ok. The toilets are absolutely bizarre with a 50c entry fee and glaring blue UV lights everywhere. I usually go here at the weekends to watch the sports because O'Reillys is way too crowded to be enjoyable. steve5312 - 29 Nov 2006 09:24 |
Is there no escape from poorly put together Irish theme pubs? Not in Amsterdam there isn't that's for sure. Fussy entry policy, slow disinterested service and poor food let down a potentially nice pub in a good location. Identikit attempt at faux-Irishness that doesn't capture the atmosphere of a genuine Irish boozer at all. Beer was ok, but nothing to write home about. Mr.Monkfish - 27 Jul 2005 13:40 |
