| Hard to say why I don't like this pub but if just feels a bit soulless. Caters very well to the young, well off crowd in the Balham area and always packed. | Has to be said this is the best by a long chalk, of the renaissance pub chain. Where the others don't seem to have any atmosphere or clearly defined offering this is clearly the flagship. Not a fan of so called gastropubs that hide a pureed potato under 3 sausages and extract �10 from the customer, this does provide fair value. It clearly hits the spot for the young middle classes to whom the Avalon moniker is probably lost (this place is cavernous but always packed at weekends).
